I’ve Had An Idea

So real quick, before we get to the main idea of this post, I wanted to let you all know what I’ve been working on! If you don’t care about all of that, then just skip to the last paragraph.

First is The Rimworld Diaries, which you can already find here on this very blog. There’s a whole post about that, but the TLDR is that it’s a series of short stories written as if they were diary entries with the overarching story being dictated by events in the game Rimworld.

Next is a couple of reviews I am currently working on. Well, I don’t know yet how reviewy I want them to be. I grew up on both written and video reviews for games and I find, while I quite like both, I tend to lean more toward the written review. With that said, I’m not sure how in depth I want to be on anything, and then there’s the whole thing with review scores and whether or not they have any value in a review. I use them personally to kind of grade my enjoyment of games, as such it’d be natural for me to extend that to the ‘reviews’ I put out here on the internet. I’m rambling. All this is to say that I’m working on a format to get my thoughts put out there on games not covered on the podcasts, or to cover with more depth. The first few games I’ll likely cover will be Lego Lord of the Rings, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Fallout.

Ok, now that all of that is out of the way, the actual thing I wanted to cover with this post, I’ve had an idea! I miss streaming and or recording games. My schedule has always been sporadic, and sometimes I just don’t have the energy when I want to play a game to get on my computer and set up a livestream. So, instead of just trying to do a more traditional Let’s Play or whatever format, I think I’m going to try a more challenge based format. For the first series of streams and videos I think I wanna try to beat all of the mainline Elder Scrolls and Fallout games on their hardest difficulty, with some survival rules, and possibly with permadeath or limited saving. I haven’t finished all the details obviously, but I’ve put a fair bit of thought into it, and you can expect the first stream or video in the next week or so. In the meantime I’m happy to hear any thoughts on rules that I should add, other games or challenges that could fit into this format, etc.
