The RimWorld Diaries (Entry 9)
Entry 9 (Septober 14th-15th, 5500)
Afternoon
I doubt I got more than two hours of sleep before that damned beast showed up. One nice shot from Jon though and it fell like any other. A bit anticlimactic if you ask me. For agreeing to shelter Maurice, he offered me the title of yeoman. I’m not sure what all that entails if I’m being honest. He says I’ll learn more once we have the ceremony to make it official. He didn’t stick around long after that. Just walked off in the distance as some sort of shuttle began to come down. I wanted to ask if he’d take us back to our homeworld, or to a nearby colony maybe, but something told me he didn’t want to be bothered. Besides, no one else knew anything of our past. Why would he?
Dusk
As I awoke from my nap and wandered over to the storage area I found Melisnos waiting for me with a small handful of guards. He was the one to bestow upon me the title of yeoman. He also explained that with my new found rank I was entitled to know some of the secret knowledge known on this planet. Specifically he showed me how I could build up psychic energy through meditation and then release it upon someone to burden them. As I continue to rise in rank he says I’ll be given more and more of the secrets. I tried to share some of my new knowledge with Jon, but he didn’t seem to be able to understand it at all. Was there something special about the ceremony, or maybe Melisnos’ staff, that allowed me to understand?
Midnight
Jon seemed to really want to know more about my new powers. Sadly I couldn’t tell him any more than what I already had. It did give us a bit of a chance to catch up though. We talked about our fight with that first raider, and both wondered what could’ve happened to our ship to make us crash land here. It was nice to talk with him again.
I think I’m going to lie down for another nap. It’s been a busy day and I really haven’t gotten much in the way of sleep.
Sunrise
I awoke from my nap and checked on the rice fields. They’re coming along really nicely if I do say so myself.
Yumi and I had talked about religious conspiracies. I never would’ve thought she’d be into that sort of thing given her upbringing. Guess it goes to show I still have a lot to learn about her.
I’m already starting to feel tired again. I think I’ll have something to eat, harvest what I can, and then call it a day.
