The RimWorld Diaries (Entry 4)
Entry 4
Dusk
I awoke more tired than I have been recently. Between fighting with Yumi last night, and then being woken up repeatedly from her working, I just haven’t gotten enough sleep. Regardless, I really should thank her for getting us almost completely roofed up! That should really help after being out in the heat of the fields, as well as help to protect us and the supplies from the elements. Maybe I will go ahead and build her that chess table once we get the supplies.
I’m considering rationing my meals. I looked over our stock of food as I was grabbing my breakfast, its fading fast. I really wish Jon would take his job a bit more seriously. He says there isn’t any game to be found.. Maybe he’s right. I haven’t seen much myself, but he has to realize how important that food is. At least until the first harvests come in.
Speaking of, I guess I should hurry up and finish what I’m going to eat for now. Need to get back out to the potato field.
Late Morning
I was able to finish up the last of the real crops finally! All that’s left now is the haygrass, but I don’t feel rushed to finish that up. I’ll likely get around to it in the next few days. With Yumi’s new stone workstation up and running I think my time would be better spent collecting suitable chunks to be worked into bricks. I was able to collect a fair bit by the time everyone awoke.
I tried to make sure I spent a bit of time talking with both of my companions. I’ve never been one to socialize, but given the circumstances I felt it important to keep up with everyone. Jon and I had a nice talk about some of the food from our old homeworld and our love of properly cooked onions. Yumi and I discussed nothing in particular, but it was nice to be back on friendly terms with her again. It seems we're all adjusting as well as one possibly could to our new home.
That reminds me, I really need to think of what we’re going to call our little settlement. Well, more of an ever growing settlement really. With the new stone walls mixed in with the old wooden structures we had built a few days ago, well it’s starting to feel like more of a castle than anything. Or really more like one of the castle towns we read about in school before everything went to shit. Maybe something will come to me as I sleep. Castle..
